Jess from Blooms the Chemist has loved helping the community better their health for 6 years!
A chemist is one place that is perhaps at the centre of all communities. After all, it helps people look after their health! Jess has worked at the Centre for 6 years, and along with her team at Blooms, has devoted herself to providing the best service and health products to build a happier, healthier community.
When a coffee-run is required, Jess’s go-to is a flat white from Zest Café. Then, she’s ready for an amazing day of helping customers.
“We often make someone’s day by taking the time to have a chat with them. We might be the only people some of our elderly customers talk to that day,” Jess said. “In return, many of our regular customers bring us little treats, such as chocolates or donuts. This brightens our day and makes us feel appreciated.”
Jess loves chatting and listening to her customers’ stories, but also loves when they make her laugh! “We always have a good giggle when customers get the names of products mixed up. My favourites are ‘melanoma’ instead of ‘melatonin’, and ‘euthanasia’ instead of ‘echinacea’!
Whilst Blooms are most well-known for their prescriptions and medication, they have heaps of other services that Jess thinks some people might not know about.
“We offer blood pressure monitoring, glucose, iron and cholesterol checks, stroke risk assessments, sleep studies and flu vaccinations. Our pharmacists can also administer tetanus, MMR, whooping cough and meningococcal vaccinations, and most importantly, COVID-19 vaccinations.”
Blooms also sell makeup and skincare, which can make for great gifts! If she was picking a gift for her best friend, Jess would choose one of their new Natio Mineral Eyeshadow palettes.
When she’s not helping customers improve their health, Jess can be found popping into Coles or Woolworths, picking up that ingredient she forgot for dinner. Outside of the Centre, she loves walking her dog around Yokine reserve.
Jess has enjoyed her 6 years at the centre, watching many shops get a face lift and seeing new shops and cafes introduced. Blooms was actually one of the original shops in the Centre!
So if you’re ever feeling under the weather or just have some questions about your health, make sure you visit Jess and the team at Blooms the Chemist. They’ve got a wealth of knowledge under the belt, and can’t wait to help you out — plus, you’ll be supporting a locally owned and operated business. Here’s to good health!
